Moved

I went to the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU and I was completely moved by his artwork.  Many of the paintings are 10 feet and traveled across the world to get here. They are on loan from several Lutheran church altars all the way from Denmark. The above painting was amazing to see in real life. The depiction of the grief of the mother knowing her daughter is dead and the anticipation as a viewer knowing that Christ just walked in the door.  This point of sorrow right before Christ rescues her is all very familiar. I couldn't look at her face with out feeling her emotion.

This painting was breath taking. The countenance of Christ is so bright. I particularly love how in this space full of people all Christ's attention is on the man under the covering. He reaches out to the one. How often he reaches out to me when I feel dark and hopeless.

I could hardly look at this painting with out crying.
I felt like I was intruding on the most intimate of moments.
The tenderness in the angels face was so beautiful, looking at her you could feel the sympathy and love.

This exhibit was amazing mostly because I felt like I was there, a witness to these moments in the Saviors life.  I felt his warmth and love and embarrassment for my personal weakness.
It was a spiritual experience for me.

Go if you can...
it has moved me and I will defiantly go back again before the exhibit leaves in May.

Attending this has reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas. At this time when it's so easy to forget, may we remember the gift our Savior has given us.
