A day in the life

I wake up to a hungry boy at the side of my bed. He says, "Mom wake up, it's mowning tiiiime". He runs off... To his sisters room where he pesters her till she's awake. She comes in my room, telling me some sort of fact or piece of information about her dream last night or what is going on with her "baby" kitty meow meow. I drag myself out of bed. We eat cereal. The favorite are "rice crispies"(frosted mini wheats) and "windmill ceerow"(honey bunches of oats). They eat while I read from the Book of Mormon. I try to teach them about Jesus while being interrupted by spills, humming, "more" and "drink please".  This morning we listed to "pray in faith" from the children's song book. I put on a TV show while I get ready for the day. They watch bubble guppies. I do about 10 minutes of yoga and fix my hair. I grab some outfits for the kids and come downstairs. I get two reluctant kids dressed. Time to go to a play group St. Patrick's day party. Eden is super excited and gets in the car. Ben won't get in his seat. I put my mean momma pants on.  I pray for patience. 25 minutes and four timeouts later benson is strapped in his car seat and ready to go. We are late.
We get to the party and the kids play and have treats. I watch them swing and color pictures.  When it's time to go the kids wave goodbye and we climb in the car. Benson gets in his seat like a champ. We drive away and Eden asks me to turn the music up.  We drive to kohls to get the Ben some "running shoes". Eden claims she is too tired and wants to go home. I say no. We try on a pair of shoes and he loves them instantly. I tell him to test them out and run down the isle. He runs down the isle and around the corner. Eden and I call to him, "come back" and "not THAT far". He comes back out of breath with a big smile on his face. We search the store for a prize for Eden. A sparkly flower headband is the decided choice... It could be styled so many ways. We get in line to check out and the crazies start. Eden and Ben get in each others face and laugh and poke. They play and get louder and louder.
Im checking out now and they are getting crazier. I pick up benson and tell him he won't be put down until he stops. He stops, sort of. We get in the car and drive to chick-Fil-a. I order two parfaits, lament that my kids are getting too much sugar and console a screaming boy who is wondering why the parfaits are not coming out of the drive through speaker. We eat in the car.
Next is dance. I drive to the studio. I bring in my minis and set them up with something to do while I teach. Benson is tired and restless which turns him into hyper and distructive. I hear crashes and hyper screams from their direction. Ben says ,"Mom, I gotta go poddy" and Eden says, "Me too". Back to teaching. After a minute Ben throws a tantrum. I want to fall on the floor and cry. I look at my student and my screaming child and say, "I think I have to go home".  I take benson into arms and hold him and listen to him. We connect. I think I'll might make it through the hour long rehearsal. He sits with me for a minute then runs to play. Rehearsal is over so we get in the car and drive home. Benson is asleep in his car seat and Eden has been awesome. I breathe. I wake benson up and take him in the house. He's grouchy. I make my kids bagels for dinner. Then, feeling awful about their diet, fix them each a spinach and cucumber salad. At 7:00 I say a prayer in my head to help me get survive bed time and too see my saviors love in my life, in motherhood.
We all march up the stairs to brush teeth. Distractions every direction. 40 tiny teeth are brushed flossed and rinsed. Jammies get put on... After giving Eden a time limit and practically wrestling them onto Benny.  We read stories... Well, Eden and I read storries while benson throws a helicopter toy down the stairs over and over. He doesn't get to read his car story but he doesn't really care. I put Benson in bed with his new shoes on still. I help him say his prayers. He says, "in the name of Jesus Christ, amen poooop".  I tell him I love him and we exchange words, "goodnight" "gooonight", "I love you" "I lobe you", "always" "ahways", "kisses (blows a smooch kiss) , "kisses" (blows a smooch kiss) then I shut the door.
I go in edens bedroom to discover her kitty meow meow has a hole by her neck.  I tell Eden to take good care of her tonight and make her comfortable because I'm going to sew her up in the morning. I assure her that her kitty will be good as new. Eden turns away with concerned tears in her eyes. She loves this kitty deeply. We talk and make a  plan  for her kitty to be comfortable. Eden feels better. I suggest that we pray for kitty meow meow. I pray first but it ends up being more for me than Kitty Meow Meow. "Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the beautiful moments today and thank you for helping me not to yell. Thank you for my sweet kids. Please give me patience. I love being a mother and I'm so grateful to be a mom but it is just so hard. Please continue to give me the strength to raise these children. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." and then edens prayer... She prayed fervently to have Heavenly Father bless her Kitty. Then said, "And Heanly father I'm so grateful for mom.... And I'm grateful for my dad. And I know he's far away now but he's still close. I can feel him in my heart and I can feel you in my heart Jesus Christ." And in that moment the world was right. I felt gods love through my five year old.
Then Benson screamed for "Water" and shouted, "Bowken (broken) and helicopter!" Then he finally fell asleep and Eden fell asleep. Later, I snuck in their rooms and kissed their perfect cheeks and breathed in their sweet smell.

The absolute most difficult and most rewarding work I could ever do.
