newness

I love the new year.
it's like a clean slate waiting to be drawn on.
My new year's resolution is to be more like this...

This plant lived in our old apartment in our kitchen window. It didn't have the chance to grow very big.
In our new place Brent has found a spot in our bathroom window that streams with light most of the day. The plant has literally doubled in size and it's first flower has bloomed.
This plant has survived a lot, well me for one thing. When Brent was out of town in July I pretty much almost killed it entirely. (I forget to water it and the rest of the things in our house that needed water, but not on purpose!)
Now look at it, stretching up as close to the window as it can get and trying to touch the sun.

It looks like it is reaching out for the light, and the light in return it helping it grow.

I want to reach for the light of Christ. I want to resolve to set aside time to draw nearer to him. I want to be better about creating an environment for study that will help me receive more personal revelation and guidance from God.  I want to grow closer to my Savior and King.
I want to reflect his light through me as I am out in the world loving, serving and being a friend to others.

I know the Savior lives and loves us. I know it.
His love is profound and different from any other feeling. It is the feeling that no matter what short comings I have that He is there waiting and wanting to comfort and be with me.

I am grateful for fresh starts and for the Savior who gives us the freshest start of all.
