To Be 14...

My little sister Elise is turning 14! Her birthday is Feb. 3rd, so to celebrate we had a Sleepover this last weekend. Elise, her friend Kelsey, her friend Mary, Olivia and I had a girls night. Olivia took them to the mall while I was at work. When I got of work and Olivia had to go to work so the girls and I ate pizza at my house, watched Juno, and I did manicures on all three of them.
Then we drove over to Jump On It. Jump On It is a HUGE warehouse with a million rectangular trampolines attached together.

When we got there I stood in line with the motley crew behind me.
When I reached the cashier I explained that I had a two for one coupon and that I would need 4 tickets please.
He then asked,"How old are they?" When I said 14 he acted confused and told me that they couldn't get in with out a parent signature.
I was super confused.

Then he asked,"How did you guys get here?"
Then the light bulb switched on in my head. He thinks I am young.. too young to drive.
"I am 24", I said.
Then he said,"OH, you can sign for them then."
Ha ha, WOW, I mean seriously under 16?!

We had loads of fun jumping around, there was even a group of middle school boys checking them out.
By the time we were done Olivia was off work and we were going to go to Applebees for desert. We ordered two deserts and destroyed them both.I tried to spark conversation by asking Elise's friends what their hobbies were ...the only answer I got was "BOYS".

Was I like that in middle school??? YES, I was a boy crazy, giggling, laughing, trendy, "unique individual" who was just like my friends.

That night we watched movies and ate popcorn. I thought that they would be so tired, but 2:30 am rolled around and if it's possible, the giggles and squeals reached their highest decibel ever (or maybe it was because I had been trying to sleep) In my tired grumpy voice I told them I do have neighbors and that they would have to be quieter.

The weekend overall was a little crazy and a little refreshing. I had forgotten a lot about being that age. What is important to them creates their entire world.

It is such a transitional age too. You are really not an adult but certainly not a child. Your emotions are deepening and you are facing real problems. Your view of the world changes the rose colored glasses of child hood are becoming clearer and closer to reality. Parents become people rather than idols as we come to see that they make mistakes too. And every moment with the opposite sex is a dear diary entry, my journal in middle school is proof.

SEE FOR YOURSELF: I am 11 or 12 here but it's simply hilarious.. I kept the spelling the same too for your reading pleasure.

"Today was the Green Valley School carnival, my brothers and sisters school. I saw some of my old friends and it was fun. At school I got asked out by a guy, Peter Malorie. I liked it, even though he was desperate. It was fun.
My sister, Selina, just started puberty (NOTE: I meant her period) I wonder what it's like. It's probably annoying. I wonder if I'll start at that age. It seems so weird.
Me and my friend Krista Reeve write back and forth. We put our letters in our lockers and it's so fun...."
I couldn't resist this one..

"Today Clayton said I was a Chick! COOL!
I am not hilusinnateing but I think my flat landed plain chest, just became a small hill. Good start. I hope when I am Selina age I will have mountains just like hers:) "chuckle" "chuckle" Enough with that..."
Elise is so much more self assured than I was at her age. I wish I had her confidence when I was 14, I admire her for that.
Middle School is crazy..
GOT ANY GOOD STORIES??

OH MY GOSH! I am DYING at this. Peter Malorie, Clayton Samaniego, notes in the lockers, wishing for boobs and questioning "puberty". It doesn't get more entertaining than that! My sister, brother and I just read my journals a while ago and I was DYING at how retarded I was. I vote that next time we get together- we bring our journals and have a good hard laugh!
