My mom got Brent and I a gingerbread house kit and I knew right away Brent would love it. He loves art and building type projects. So, he started working on the house while I made some homemade soup (which is so easy by the way, and fool proof for the cooking impaired) I finished preparing the soup and left it simmering on the stove (filling my house with yummy smells) and I began to help Brent with the gingerbread house... Mistake #1: I put the white frosting in the Microwave for 30 seconds too long... Close call... I got distracted checking on the soup.
Mistake #2: I put the green frosting in the microwave for too long...distracted by the soup... blew up the green frosting.
Now, most of you, like me, would find this funny.. I did. But not 'serious pants' Brent. He was mad at me and he actually said, "Whats wrong with you?". I started laughing and joked that he can't be serious and he replied, "I seriously can't believe you did this twice!".

I started laughing and joked that he can't be serious and he replied, "I seriously can't believe you did this twice!".What I failed to understand is that an artist was at work, and he had drawn out creative plans for that small green frosting packet, creative plans that I just exploded.
About ten min later he smiles and says, "That was funny, huh?"
Me: "What? How you flipped out?"
Brent: "It's like what a nerd has when he'playing with his Star Wars action figures"
Me: "Yup"
Brent: "I'm sorry for being a cotton headed ninny muggins. You are going to blog about this aren't you?"
One of my favorite quotes of the night was,"There's very few things that I'm proud of......this is one of them". He later let me in on his OCD design secrets, "I get really into this stuff. See everything is done symmetricaly there is no disorder, except the sprinkles." (See example above)
This is our Christmas Tree, and I have to say I had so much fun decorating it! It's MAGICAL
Last saturday Janet, Bill, Brent and I went up to salt lake to see the lights. We ended up waiting in line for standby tickets to the conference center christmas concert. This is a picture of us after waiting for about 45 min. It was cold but so worth it. The music was joyful and uplifting and really inspired the christmas spirit. I love the unity you feel around christmas time, everyone is family... and we added some family to our group that night. The guy on the right's name is Henry and he's from Germany and he hung out with us the whole night! I love the example of friendship and christ like love I see from my inlaws.

OK so pretty much I LOVE YOU! I seriously laughed for like 5 minutes out loud at your story.
#1 Because it sounds vaguely familiar to an occurence with me and Matt. I being the one to do something equally as stupid a total of like 4 times.
#2 Because Matt responded in the same way; however he then made the same mistake later.
Your Christmas tree is adorable and the gingerbread house is perfect. Coming from a fellow OCD'er you can tell Brent that it is a job WELL DONE! :)
I've done one of those gingerbread house kits before...IT IS NOT EASY. My house wouldn't even stand up most of the time. Brent did a Fabulous Job on the house. It even has a wreath!
I am so impressed with the gingerbread house! I loved the story...makes me laugh. We still need to all go on a group date. We will have to plan one after the break once things die down a bit.
I can't believe how perfect that house is, it could have been on the gingerbread kit box it looks so perfect! (good job brent) and your tree is beautiful! Merry Christmas!
love, rebekah
